Sharing Policy
We believe in open knowledge, knowledge sharing and the value of public domain. A lot of what makes the internet as we all experience it, is based on open concepts like; open source, open data, creative commons and generally on information sharing. This copyleft movement have contributed greatly not only for development of internet and open innovation, but also for enabling startups to create new innovations around the world. As well as to knowledge we are sharing here as Startup Commons.
While collecting the knowledge over the years to really understand Startup Ecosystems, how those function, how those can be developed and measured, along with all related information, to be able to design, build and validate Startup Commons solutions, - this collected knowledge have great value and is benefiting us greatly in our work. By sharing this knowledge it does not mean that we would loose the value, but exactly the opposite. The more we share, the more value is created.
By allowing others to use, improve and validate our knowledge and assumptions and also having ongoing discussions around startup ecosystem development, will help further improve this shared knowledge and understanding about startup ecosystems for everyone, - us included. In addition this shared knowledge can be used to develop free and commercial value add services by and for those involved with developing startup ecosystems around the world.
This is why most Startup Commons Global knowledge materials are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. So anyone can distribute, edit and use our materials, including commercial use, by giving credit with a link to www.startupcommons.org and to original material in question.
Note: we also republish material by others and in these cases ask them to license their materials with same freedom. However for various reasons that may not always be possible, mainly due the person or organization in question not having authority to give such rights. In these cases we try to find the most open license possible that can be used for publishing these as well. These other rights are usually listed along with the material in question.
